If you notice crews working around fire hydrants — or temporary changes to your water — around Tavares, there's a reason. The City of Tavares and Tavares Fire Department are beginning citywide fire hydrant flow testing Monday, Aug. 24, with testing scheduled to continue through Nov. 1. During testing, residents may notice water flowing along streets, temporary changes in water pressure, or slight discoloration or cloudiness from faucets. The city says temporary discoloration associated with the testing does not mean the water is unsafe to drink and should clear as the system flushes. 🚒 Why are they doing it?
