This week, we're shining a light on a downtown Eustis business that's been welcoming shoppers for more than 35 years: Peddler's Wagon. 📍 25 E. Magnolia Avenue, Downtown Eustis What started as a small crafting business creating fragrant cinnamon-stick gift accents has grown into one of downtown Eustis' distinctive shopping destinations — all inside a landmark building dating to the 1880s. Today, Peddler's Wagon is known for unique gifts, home décor, realistic floral designs and elaborate seasonal displays. Christmas is particularly serious business here: the store has developed a reputation as a destination for holiday decorating, ornaments, collectibles and inspiration. But what caught our attention wasn't simply what's on the shelves. It's the experience they've built around them. Peddler's Wagon is family operated by Kevin and Penny Jenness and their son, Sean, and hospitality has long been part of the concept. Guests have been treated to refreshments, hors d'oeuvres, samples and the shop's own “Peddler's Punch” while browsing — an old-school approach built around making a shopping trip feel more like a visit. The business has also earned recognition beyond Eustis over the years, including Florida Retailer of the Year from the Florida Retail Federation, along with awards recognizing its displays, retail concepts and community involvement. That community involvement continues outside the store. Owner Kevin Jenness has participated publicly in discussions about the future of downtown Eustis, including supporting improved bicycle connections while advocating for adequate public parking to protect accessibility for downtown visitors and existing businesses. For more than three decades, Peddler's Wagon has helped give downtown Eustis something locally owned businesses do particularly well: a sense of place. It's not simply somewhere to buy something.
