LCN REPORT | EUSTIS

Eustis has received another proposal for its Community Center property as the city moves from accepting submissions to reviewing them. The additional proposal does not amount to an approved sale, and the center remains open.

WHAT HAPPENED

In an October 26 update, the City of Eustis said its 30-day submission window had closed and one additional proposal had been received. Staff is reviewing that submission for the waterfront property at 601 Northshore Drive.

The update does not identify the proposer or describe the offer, price or proposed use.

WHY IT MATTERS

The review concerns the future of a city-owned waterfront gathering place. A proposal could affect how the property is used, but receiving an offer and reviewing it are separate from approving an agreement.

The city says commissioners have not approved a sale or made a final decision on the property.

WHO IT AFFECTS

Community Center users, nearby residents and people following downtown Eustis redevelopment have a stake in the process. For people with reservations or plans to use the facility, the city says rentals, programs and scheduled events are continuing.

WHAT CHANGES

The proposal window has closed, and the additional submission is now under staff review. The Community Center remains open.

Older answers farther down the city's information page still describe proposals as being accepted. The dated October 26 update is the city's newer statement and says the submission period has ended.

WHAT'S NEXT

Staff is reviewing the additional proposal. Any purchase and sale agreement would require consideration and approval by the City Commission at a public meeting.

The update does not announce when commissioners will review the additional proposal. The proposer, terms, price and proposed use are also not supplied in the notice.
