According to the City of Eustis, firefighters responded at 9:18 a.m. September 15 to a gas leak near South Eustis Street and East Key Street. The city attributed it to fiber internet construction.

The response required residents to leave nearby properties while crews addressed the leak.

Evacuations covered an eight-unit apartment building and three houses. Drivers also faced intermittent closures along parts of East Key Avenue and South Eustis Street.
